The challenge in a path puzzle is not reaching the next number — it is reaching it without cutting off cells you will never be able to visit. A few habits prevent almost every dead end.
Watch the corners
A corner cell has only two neighbours, so the line must pass through both of them — unless the corner is the end of the line. Decide early how the line will sweep past each corner.
Never isolate a cell
If an empty cell has only one free neighbour left, the line must go into it next or end there. Two such cells at once mean the route has already failed — back up.
Plan between numbers
Before heading to the next number, look at the empty cells around it. The cells you skip now must still be reachable later, without crossing the line.
Use long sweeps
Running the line back and forth in long rows or columns fills large areas safely. Change direction near a number, not in the middle of an open field.
Cut, don't restart
Tapping a cell on the line cuts it back to that point. Try a different turn from there — it is much faster than redrawing the whole path.
