Daily Nonogram: picture logic puzzle

Also called picross, griddlers or paint by numbers: pure logic, one grid a day.

In short

Solve a new 10×10 nonogram every day. The numbers beside each row and column tell you the lengths of filled blocks in that line. Every puzzle can be solved by logic alone, without guessing.

How to play Daily Nonogram

  1. Each row and column has a list of numbers: the lengths of the blocks of filled cells in that line, in order.
  2. Blocks are separated by at least one empty cell.
  3. Tap or drag to fill cells. Switch to Cross mode to mark cells you know are empty.
  4. A clue turns faint when its line matches it.
  5. The puzzle is solved when every row and column matches its clues.

Tips and strategy

  • Start with lines whose clues add up to almost the full width — for example 10, or 4 and 5 in a 10-cell line.
  • Overlap method: push a block as far left as possible, then as far right; cells covered both times must be filled.
  • Lines with clue 0 are completely empty: cross them out first.
  • Mark empty cells with crosses; they are just as useful as filled ones.
  • Switch between rows and columns: every new cell creates new information in the other direction.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to guess?

No. Every daily nonogram is checked to be solvable line by line with pure logic.

What does a 0 clue mean?

It means the whole line is empty.

Is there only one solution?

Yes. The puzzle is generated so that line logic leads to a single solution.

Can I drag to fill several cells?

Yes. Press and drag across cells to fill or cross a whole run at once, on both touch screens and with a mouse.

Is it the same puzzle for everyone?

Yes. The grid is the same worldwide on the same day.
